Book Summary (Per Amazon)
Tessa and Hardin have defied all the odds, but will their fairy tale ending be turned on its head?AFTER EVER HAPPY...Life will never be the same. #HESSA

It’s never been all rainbows and sunshine for Tessa and Hardin, but each new challenge they’ve faced has only made their passionate bond stronger and stronger. But when a revelation about the past shakes Hardin’s inpenetrable façade to the core—and then Tessa suffers a tragedy—will they stick together again, or be torn apart?

As the shocking truth about each of their families emerges, it’s clear the two lovers are not so different from each other. Tessa is no longer the sweet, simple, good girl she was when she met Hardin—any more than he is the cruel, moody boy she fell so hard for. Tessa understands all the troubling emotions brewing beneath Hardin’s exterior, and she knows she’s the only one who can calm him when he erupts. He needs her.

But the more layers of his past come to light, the darker he grows, and the harder he pushes Tessa—and everyone else in his life—away. Tessa’s not sure if she really can save him—not without sacrificing herself. She refuses to go down without a fight. But who is she fighting for—Hardin or herself?

My Thoughts
I think this has been my favorite so far of the After series.  I did not see the tragedy coming for Tessa.  I imagined quite a few things from this blurb, but not that.  I loved the descriptive writing style in this story and I felt that the pages flew by for After Ever Happy.  I cried, laughed, got irritated, and fell in love with who Hessa turned out to be by the end of this story.   In fact, the openness that Hardin showed through the pages, his demeanor with her, etc. was some of what made me enjoy this story so much. The ending is incredibly sweet, poignant, sad and then uplifting.  At times I never thought I wanted this ending, but after reading all four books and seeing the dynamic truly change in this one...I thought the ending was perfect.

That doesn't mean I loved everything about this story.  For, even when they finally are trying to mature, they somehow are on some weird tug of war regarding commitment issues. I would have lost my marbles over those typed pages and purpose of them, so kudos to Tessa to being strong.  It definitely showed growth on both characters part.  Additionally, I found that the statement about waiting for marriage was ridiculous, especially considering their relationship for the entire series. The last thing that was ech to me..was the title.  I get the play on words, but I do not like this title...at all.  It sounds awkward and bothers me. Ridiculous probably, but there you have it!

I have seen many reviews rave about this series and many slam this series.  I do not know much about one direction, as in beyond knowing that  they are a band I am clueless, so I am not sure how this is fan fiction for them.  Perhaps that is why I am not so hard on this story.  I enjoyed the series and the characters.  The length of the story was actually enjoyable because we got to really know the characters, their strengths, weaknesses, pain, love, etc.   I came to adore Ken and Vance, Landon is still my favorite..can he be one of my best friends?.  Smith is probably the most adorable kid ever and I could go on.  The main thing, as in the only thing, I did not like about the story (But I think it is why so many people kept coming back) is the volatile nature and slightly abusive way that the two treat each other.  Many times we all have that friend or are ourselves stuck in a relationship with a weird cycle that doesn't make sense to anyone else, but it does to them/us.  I feel that this book showcases that cycle and desire for a relationship to work out...though maybe a wee bit too extreme with some of the things Hardin pulled!
