Maleficent, Movie Review

Loved it.
I have not been watching a lot of movies lately due to I do not like sitting somewhere for a few hours. My attention wanders, I get restless, fall asleep, etc. But not tonight and not here.  I thought Disney and Angelina Jolie were quite splendid.

*Angelina Jolie was at her finest. (I truly think she should stay with action, thriller, sci-fi type movies..she shines and holds me captivated)
*The story was just moving.  I kept saying please let this movie do this or end this way..don't let this happen etc. So I never knew what was going to happen next.
*The development of relationships were was just spot on and what made this movie so unique and a classic in my eyes.
*The graphics, artwork, the vision of what the moors should be are a true masterpiece.  I adored the scenes involving the mud fights and how it tied joy into the beginning Maleficent and the later Maleficent.
*The storyline was superb.  I always wondered in the original movie why was the one fairy not happy/mean, and this story was extremely developed, plausible and enjoyable.
*All of the actors breathed life into their characters.  Sam Riley, as Diaval, was superb as a human, bird, wolf, etc.  The delivery of his lines created most of the laughter I experienced in this movie.  Such timing and dry wit was perfection.  Elle Fanning, as Aurora, was delightful.  I could see other actresses playing this role, but she held it and made the movie and relationship with Maleficent work with her portrayal.
*Stefan..I mean I can't even articulate how much I disliked how they had that character develop for the movie.  Admittedly the movie would not have gone as well if he was not so dislikeable, but yikes!

Memorable Quotations:
Maleficent: I will not ask you for forgiveness. What I have done is unforgivable. I was so lost in hatred and revenge. I never dreamed that I could love you so much. You stole what was left of my heart. And now I've lost you forever.

Maleficent: I must say, I really felt quite distressed at not receiving an invitation.
Stefan: You're not welcome here.
Maleficent: Oh dear. What an awkward situation.

Okay so that was a slew of pros and really my only con and I don't know if it is a con because I can't imagine anyone likes the king in this movie. Thus the actor did an excellent portrayal of his character.  What were your thoughts of this movie?  Had you envisioned this was what happened to make the fairy give such an evil blessing on Aurora?

I hope y'all enjoy this review, movie and that Disney continues to create and release such masterpieces as this one!

  1. Ooh I have recently seen this movie! I understand how it can be watching movies when you are tired. Sadly, I didn't like this film as much as you did :/ I found it to be predictable and none of the characters were good at all, excepting Angelina Jolie who did an awesome job. I will agree with you and say the graphics were awesome though!

  2. I have the same problem girl. I seriously cannot watch a movie. Whether it be that my mind wanders or I just fall asleep.. I can't seem to keep myself interested. But I also cannot wait to see this movie! Hopefully it keeps me awake (:

I've been hearing such amazing things and it just sounds wonderful. Great review Meghan!
