Thanksgiving Thankful #1- 2014 Edition

Every November the thankful posts start across the web: Facebook, Instagram, Blogs, etc. and YES I am one of those people who do the same.  It started back at my boarding school where Ms. T would post paper up at her office and encouraged us to come write down what or who we were grateful for.  There was no limit, if the page filled up she just posted another page.

Ever since then I have taken the month of November as a guaranteed reminder and time to reflect on my blessings and who and what I am thankful for.  It is good to think on this all year long, and I do try to take the time to do so, but I completely love that this month is just such a set and permanent reminder to really take some time, marinate on my life and see all my blessings which I might miss in my day to day activities.

Today is November 1 so yes it is my #1 Thanksgiving Thankful.

I am thankful for my dad.  I love my parents equally and my sister is my best friend.  But today's thankful post is just about my dad.  Every year since he had Cancer he gets sick around the holidays.  I don't know if it is the weather, he just gets tired from the cold, or what have you, but every year for the last 7 years he has been sick in the holiday season.

Two weeks ago dad had another onset of being ill and we started the hospital and doctor rounds.  Thankfully he is already rebounding, back home and getting back to his laughing, picking and talkative self, but for those few weeks it was right back to the what ifs, worries, etc. about what is wrong now, will he be ok, can the doctors figure it out, etc.

So now more than usual I am just extremely thankful for my Dad.  He is an amazing father, great friend, fantastic listener and advice giver and a perfect example of how to find the humor in situations.
